Interatioal Law Society
The International Law Society of the University of Macau Students’ Union (UMSU ILS) is an association that was established in the school year 2016-2017. Our main objective is to create and facilitate a student-run academic circle and create a platform that allows students to assist each other to improve their skillsets in research, writing and oral advocacy. But at the same time, we, as international law enthusiasts, aim to promote the study of international law to all students at the University of Macau (not only law students). The Founding Members were inspired by the international law moot court competitions, in which they all participated in, and wanted to share the same experience to all students in Macau. Therefore, the Society strongly encourages all students to audition for the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competion (“Jessup”) and the International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition (“ICC-MOOT”), coached by our very own association’s supervisors Prof. Sten Verhoeven and Prof. Perumal Ramaswany. The auditions take place around August-September every year. Finally, the UMSU ILS is also a registered Chapter of the International Law Students Association (ILSA), whose footprint is present in all prestigious universities around the world.
